"Caliban's War" by James S.A. Corey
Review by Borodutch
I'm a TV show fan, so I found this book excellent. The TV show's script closely follows the events of the books so far, but the books give so much more depth to the characters. Instead of constantly being annoyed by the heros' actions, I somewhat understand their motivation.
Also, had no idea what "Caliban" meant until I watched a recap of the second season of the TV show. It's the protomolecule creature. I'm unsure if I didn't pick it up reading or if the name isn't mentioned in the book on purpose.
Overall, it's a solid hard sci-fi; I can't argue that. I loved the spaceship battles and the political aspect of the book. I still haven't seen enough of the current political commentary that the TV show had, but I'm sure it's coming in the following books.
I'll keep reading the Expanse series; so far, it's been a blast!
