"Down with the System" by Serj Tankian

Review by Borodutch

I was always puzzled by why System of a Down collapsed, but now I know the whole story from the source. Like many of my friends, my teenage years were spent with "Sugar" on repeat. I haven't listened to SoaD recently, but I might start again.

Besides finally learning about why one of the bands of my childhood ceased existence, I learned a lot about the Armenian genocide. Hearing the stories from those times is heartbreaking. Having people politically state opinions opposite from what they held privately is even more traumatizing.

Anyway, great book, I enjoyed Serj's retelling of the stories. Rarely do memoirs teach me something new, but "Down with the System" surprised me multiple times.
