"The Company" by Stephen R. Bown
I thoroughly enjoyed Stephen's retelling of the Hudson's Bay Company story. He focused on a more balanced perspective in terms of what exactly was going on between the British, the Americans, and the indigenous people. Besides the atrocities of Simpson (the head of the company in the last five decades or so), the way The Company cooperated was more akin to a business enterprise with purely commercial interest rather than colonizers.
The author builds his perspective on numerous travellers' journals from the past. Unfortunately, few legal records of the deals remain, making this the most reliable source we have so far.
Now, with Hudson's Bay's downfall and bankruptcy, it was fascinating to consider the 200-odd years they've been in business, from the very beginning to the very end.
